SF ICO Bookclub on Racism, Social Justice, and the EnvironmentFollowing up on our late August discussion on Sierra Club History, Racism, Social Justice and the Environment, we are continuing the discussion via a bookclub forum.
We'd like to invite you to join other SF ICO volunteers for a 75- to 90-minute Zoom discussion on a common book we've read, the topics raised in the book, and how these issues are relevant to us as ICO Volunteers. No experience or advance reading is necessary, though we're looking for volunteers to help present summaries of a chapter or issue or topic from this question list and facilitate a conversation about them.
Note that there are so many interesting books to read on the topics of racism and social justice. I chose How to Be An Anti-Racist because I feel this book creates a great foundation to change the way we think.

SF ICO Discussion - Sierra Club History, Racism, and Social JusticeIn July, the Sierra Club published the first in a series of three blogs about racial justice and the environmental movement, troubling aspects of the organization's history, and its vision for an equitable and inclusive Sierra Club for the 21st century. Please join us via Zoom to learn more and talk about the Sierra Club's history and the connection of racism and social justice to the environmental movement. These are rich topics, and helpful context for the work we care about as volunteers and the communities in which we live. You're welcome to simply listen in or actively contribute. No experience or advance reading is necessary, though we're looking for volunteers to help present summaries of some articles and facilitate conversation about them. Relevant resources:
